How a marketing lead proves AI visibility without waiting on anyone
Run the engine sweep yourself, cross it against your own Search Console data, and report what actually moved after you published — including the part TriRank cannot measure.

Own the measurement, whoever writes the pages
TriRank sweeps every engine on its roster on a weekly cadence, records which of them cite your domain, and crosses that against the queries you already rank for in Search Console. What you get is a number you produced yourself and can produce again next week — which is a different job from writing the pages, and this page is only about the first one.

What gets measured
Two things, on a weekly cadence, and they answer different questions.
The first is the sweep. Your tracked queries go to every engine on the roster — ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, Google's Gemini grounding and Google AI Overview — and each one's answer is checked for a structured source link that resolves to your domain. One record per engine, never one blended score: being cited by one engine tells you nothing about the others, and a single number would hide exactly the case you need to see.
The second is the cross with your own Search Console data. Take the queries where you already rank on page one, then ask which of them no engine cites. Those rows are the useful ones, because they are not a content gap — you already have the page, and it is already ranking. What is missing is the part that gets it quoted. Alongside them sits the opposite list: page-one queries nobody is monitoring yet.
What you can prove afterwards
You publish, and a few weeks later the same two measurements run again. What you can put in front of a leadership team is a before and after: these queries were cited by nobody in June and by two engines in August, this page moved from position 9 to position 4, this one did not move at all.
What you cannot say is that your work caused it. TriRank records the change; it does not run the experiment that would attribute it. Assistants re-retrieve the live web on every question, competitors publish in the same weeks, and engines change their retrieval without announcing it. A tool that hands you a causal claim here is handing you something nobody measured. The honest version — this moved, in this window, while you were doing this — is still the strongest evidence most marketing teams have ever had on this question, and it is the version that survives being challenged.
The same discipline runs through the empty states. A query that has not been swept yet is reported as pending rather than folded into the all-clear, because "we have not checked" and "no engine cites you" are different sentences and only one of them is a finding.
What this does not do
The answer text is never read for brand mentions. A citation is counted only when the engine returns a structured source link whose host is your domain or a subdomain of it. If ChatGPT describes your product in a paragraph and links to a review site instead, that is not counted as a citation, and no setting turns it into one. This is a deliberate limit rather than a missing feature: prose-matching a brand name produces a number that goes up when someone else writes about you, which is not the thing you are trying to measure. The per-engine pages say the same thing about each engine we probe.
It also does not tell you whether anyone clicked. A citation is a place inside an answer; the click, if there is one, shows up in Search Console like any other. Both live in TriRank, and they are kept as two columns rather than one score.
Where to start
Run the free audit against your own domain — it probes the engines live and needs nothing connected. If the picture is worth a weekly series, connect Search Console so the share of the answer can be crossed against queries you already rank for.
If you are the one writing the pages as well as measuring them, the founder version of this page covers that side, and the solo-operator version covers doing it without a team at all.
常见问题
Do I need a content team to use this?+
No, and you do not need to be without one either. This page is about the measurement half: the sweep, the Search Console cross, and the before-and-after. Who writes the pages is a separate decision, and TriRank works the same way whether that is you, an in-house team, or the pipeline drafting them for you.
Which engines does the weekly sweep cover?+
Five: ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, Google's Gemini grounding, and Google AI Overview. Each is probed separately and recorded separately, because being cited in one is not evidence about the others.
Can you tell me whether my content caused the change?+
No. TriRank records what your citations and rankings did before and after a page went live. It cannot separate your work from everything else that moved in the same weeks, and any tool that claims otherwise is claiming an experiment nobody ran.
Does it count it when an assistant says our brand name?+
No. The answer text is never read for brand mentions. A citation is counted only when a structured source link the engine returns resolves to your domain, so a name-drop in the prose is not counted and never will be.
What if a query has not been swept yet?+
It is reported as pending, not as clean. A query with no verdict yet is held out of the all-clear on purpose, because 'we have not checked' and 'nobody cites you' are different claims and only one of them is a measurement.
