An SEO rank reporter shows which queries and pages appear in search, while an SEO report card tool checks the condition of a page or site. Choose an SEO reporting tool for the report you need to deliver. Google Data Studio suits a custom dashboard built from your own Search Console data. Semrush My Reports combines its toolkits and connected data in scheduled reports. SE Ranking packages SEO project data for clients. AgencyAnalytics focuses on branded client reporting. TriRank combines your Search Console readings with AI citation checks and the next content action.

Those are different jobs. A keyword-position report, a technical SEO report card and an AI citation report answer different questions. Start with a real report example, then compare the sources and delivery options below. TriRank is our product. This is a comparison of documented features, not a performance ranking or an independent hands-on benchmark. The reporting documentation linked below was rechecked on November 4, 2026. We did not access paid vendor accounts or test report accuracy.

See the output before connecting your data. Open the public audit sample to inspect its findings, evidence and measurement dates. It is a published example, not a report about your website or a demonstration of every reporting integration. To check your own domain, start a free audit. No Search Console connection is needed for that initial audit.

Choose an SEO rank reporter or an SEO report card tool

Start with the question you need the report to answer. A ranking report and a technical report card can complement each other, but neither substitutes for the other.

Your questionOutput to look forWhere to start
Which search queries bring my pages impressions and clicks?A query-to-page report with dates, filters, clicks, impressions and GSC average positionCompare the reporting tools below; an authorized Search Console connection is needed for your own search history
What can I fix on this page before waiting for traffic?A report card with individual checks, evidence and suggested fixesStart a free audit; the initial audit does not require GSC
Are AI answers linking to my site?Dated answers and credited source URLs, with unavailable checks kept separateUse the free AI visibility checker for a brand snapshot; daily limits and caching apply
What will the findings look like before I connect anything?A dated, readable example with the scope statedOpen the public audit sample, which combines checks with its own published evidence

For an SEO rank reporter, inspect a query and its actual landing page together. A rising site average can hide a page that is losing impressions. For an SEO report card tool, inspect the failed check and its proposed fix; a higher technical score does not guarantee a ranking improvement. The report structure below lists the fields to keep when comparing periods.

The linked reporting documentation and pricing pages were rechecked on November 4, 2026. Prices below refer to the units displayed on those pages; checkout, tax and regional terms were not tested. A reporting add-on is not the complete platform subscription. Do not compare a per-report fee with a plan covering multiple sites as if they were the same unit. Our Semrush white-label comparison explains that purchasing distinction.

Five reporting options, with their tradeoffs

Google Data Studio: a dashboard built around your own data

Use it when you can maintain the dashboard yourself. The Search Console connector separates site and URL impressions and offers owner or viewer credentials. Check access permissions before sharing client data. The connector document is not a quote for paid connectors or Data Studio Pro.

Semrush My Reports: useful inside an existing toolkit workflow

My Reports charges by report: Base is $10 monthly; Pro is $20 and adds white-labeling and link sharing. Toolkit widgets require the relevant subscription. If comparing an eleventh branded report, use our Semrush versus TriRank pricing breakdown; a report fee is not a whole-platform price.

SE Ranking: project reporting with an agency add-on

The report builder supports PDF, HTML and XLS documents, scheduling and section commentary. Core lists $129 monthly or $103.20 per month billed annually. The white-label Agency Pack is another $69 per month with annual billing. Verify project allowances and add-on availability for your intended plan.

AgencyAnalytics: a client portal across marketing channels

Consider it for client reporting spanning several channels. Its pricing page displays Core at $20 per client per month, billed annually, with reporting and a branded client portal. Confirm tracker coverage separately; that annual equivalent is not a verified monthly-billing price.

TriRank: search performance beside citation evidence

TriRank is our product. Starter, Pro and Agency list $49, $149 and $399 monthly; white-label reporting requires Agency. GSC rankings and AI citation observations remain separate, with their own dates and unavailable states. Start with the public audit sample. It illustrates findings, not every account integration; the product GA4 connector is not currently available.

Choose by the report you need

For a dashboard assembled from first-party data, choose Data Studio when someone on your team can own the connector setup, field definitions and permissions. Its Search Console connector exposes two aggregation choices: site impressions and URL impressions. Keep them separate; a page table is not a substitute for your property total.

For reports built around a Semrush workflow, examine My Reports. Its automation documentation describes emailed PDFs and scheduled delivery. Check the active toolkit subscriptions before assuming a widget is included: Google data, paid toolkit data and report branding are separate purchasing questions.

For repeatable SEO client documents, examine SE Ranking's template, export and scheduling workflow. For a branded portal across marketing channels, examine AgencyAnalytics. Neither decision should depend only on a screenshot: verify the sources your client actually uses and who can access the result.

For the question “we rank on Google, but do AI answers cite us?”, compare tools that retain citation evidence beside GSC data. TriRank provides that join and suggested content actions, but it is not a replacement for every analytics integration. Its GA4 connector is not currently available, and its GSC positions are Google's average positions, not independent live SERP checks.

What an SEO ranking report should contain

A usable report tells a reader what changed, how it was measured and what to do. Use this structure rather than a single unexplained score:

SectionWhat to includeInterpretation
Measurement windowExact start/end dates, search type, country/device filtersCompare equal windows with the same filters
Search performanceClicks, impressions, CTR and GSC average positionCTR is clicks divided by the matching impressions
Query and landing pageThe query and URL shown for that queryConfirm the pair from GSC; don't join independent top-query and top-page lists
Ranking changesComparable query/page readings across both windowsA site-wide average may change because the query mix changed
AI citationsQuestion, engine, location when supported, date and credited URL“Unavailable” is not “not cited”; an answer mentioning you is not always a link to you
Next actionOne concrete page or source to work onExplain why that action follows from the measurement

See the report sample for an existing example. It carries its own measurement window; it is not a claim about your site. For an initial check on your own domain, use the free audit. For recurring reporting, read automated SEO reports.

Report cards, rank trackers and AI reports are different

An SEO report card grades a checklist of technical or page factors. A high grade does not establish traffic, a specific ranking or AI citations. Keep the checks visible so the grade points to a fix.

A rank tracker may run searches for selected keywords at a chosen location. GSC average position instead summarizes where your property or page appeared in actual Google searches. Both can help, but the numbers answer different questions. Label the source next to the position rather than blending them into one trend.

An AI search report records the questions asked and sources returned by an answer engine. A single free check is a snapshot. Repeated checks provide history; neither directly measures visits or revenue unless an additional attribution source is connected.

Why citation evidence deserves its own section

Our existing benchmark asked three questions about each of 101 SaaS brands through Perplexity sonar in July 2026, producing 2,469 citations. Brands' own domains accounted for 10.2% of those citations. These are historical results for that engine, sample and question set, not an October rerun or an estimate of all AI search.

The AI visibility benchmark and citation-source table publish the aggregate evidence. They explain why a useful report should show which third-party pages appear alongside the brand, rather than only counting visits to the brand's own website.

A purchasing checklist for agencies

Before paying, connect one authorized property and check one report against the underlying GSC window. Verify the export, permission model and what happens when a source returns no data. Confirm whether white-labeling, another client, a scheduled email or AI monitoring needs an add-on. Ask whether the report's history is frozen or refreshed later.

For client presentation, white-label reporting is useful only after the source and window are clear. For the monitoring layer behind a report, compare AI search monitoring tools.

FAQ

Which SEO reporting tool should I choose?

Choose by the sources and delivery you need: Data Studio for custom GSC dashboards, a platform report builder for scheduled client documents, and an AI citation monitor when answers and credited sources belong in the report.

What should SEO ranking report software measure?

Record the exact window, query, landing page, clicks, impressions, CTR and ranking source. Keep GSC average position distinct from an independent SERP tracker, and compare the same filters across periods.

Is an SEO report card the same as a ranking report?

No. A report card grades checks on a site or page. A ranking report describes search performance. Neither alone proves that an AI answer engine cites the page.

Can SEO reports be sent automatically?

Some report builders support scheduled delivery. Check the platform and plan: Semrush and SE Ranking document scheduling, while TriRank sends its weekly report email on Wednesdays. Export and branding allowances vary.

Do SEO reporting tools include AI visibility?

Some do, through a separate toolkit or tracker. Semrush documents AI Visibility widgets with an active toolkit subscription, AgencyAnalytics advertises an AI Tracker, and TriRank keeps citation checks beside GSC performance. Verify coverage and quotas for the plan you choose.
