Which Launch Directories Showed Up in AI Answers

Measured from our own AI answer probes · 14,441 citation rows · 1,643 cited hosts · 49 queries · 6 engines · 2026-06-27 to 2026-09-02

Founders get handed the same list of launch directories to submit to, and nobody checks whether an AI answer engine ever repeats one back. We ran 42 of them against our own probe corpus and counted how often each was actually named. The 33 we never saw cited are listed here too, with no number attached.

Every directory on the list

One line per directory, and a separate line per engine where a directory was cited on more than one. The 5 engines read different things, so a single merged total would hide which surface a citation came from.

33 of the 42 directories were never named in an answer to one of our probed queries. That is an absence of a measurement, not a measured zero — which is why those lines carry no figure.

How this was counted

Every figure comes from citation rows this product stored while probing queries somebody registered — 14,441 rows across 1,643 cited hosts, 2026-06-27 to 2026-09-02. It is our own probe language, not a survey of anyone else's traffic.

A row counts for a directory when its stored host, lowercased with a leading www. removed, equals that directory's domain. Subdomains are not folded in. A looser arm that does accept them exists for comparison, and its output is deliberately not published here.

Each row is dated by the probe run it belongs to, falling back to the row's own write time when that run carries no day. Every stored row records which of those answered, so the two are never presented as one.

Two limits worth stating plainly. We probe a fixed set of 49 queries, so a directory can be named in answers we never asked for. And a citation is an engine naming a page, not evidence that the page helped anyone.
