Where does the backlink data come from?
The Domain Rating comes from Ahrefs' free Domain Rating API — the industry-standard DR scale. Backlink counts and referring domains come from the DataForSEO backlinks database, one of the largest commercial link indexes. We show what each source reports, and when a value is unavailable we show a dash instead of a made-up number.
Is this backlink checker really free?
Yes. You can run up to 3 checks per day without an account. Results for the same domain are cached for 7 days, so repeat checks don't burn your daily limit.
What does the Domain Rating (DR) score mean?
Domain Rating (DR) is Ahrefs' authority score on a 0-100 logarithmic scale, based on the strength of a domain's backlink profile. Higher means search and AI engines are more likely to treat the site as an authoritative source.
How do I get more backlinks?
Publish citable content (original data, clear definitions, honest comparisons), list your product in relevant directories, and earn mentions from sites your audience already reads. Quality beats volume — a few links from ranked domains outweigh hundreds of low-quality ones.
